-About Tradescantia sillamontana-
Tradescantia sillamontana, commonly known as White Gossamer plant, Cobweb Spiderwort, and White Velvet, is a perennial evergreen succulent plant. As the leaves, stems, and roots all are heavily covered with cobwebby, completely white hairs, the plant is very recognizable. The shape of leaves is ovate, and overall height can reach 6-18 inches with a spread of 2 feet. Producing pretty three-petaled magenta flowers in midsummer.
-How to care for Tradescantia sillamontana-
Sun/Location: As a succulent species from a dry, hot region, White Gossamer Plant can tolerate full sun and be happy under temperature stress in spring and fall, but too much harsh sunlight can burn the leaves, especially in summer, so partial shade is necessary.
Soil/Pot: Cobweb Spiderwort can tolerate poor soils, but the ideal soil is well-drained and acidic.
Watering: It is highly recommended to use the soak-and-dry method of watering. Thorough watering while ensuring the soil is thoroughly dry will protect the roots of the succulents, and the frequency of watering can be increased appropriately during the growing season, such as spring and fall, and watering sparingly or stopped in winter to help White Velvet endure the cold.
