Phenomenal Lavender (Lavandula x intermedia ‘Phenomenal’) is prized not only for its gorgeous purple flowers and silver foliage, but for its incredible hardiness and healing properties. Touted as a “must-grow perennial”, by ‘Better Homes and Gardens’, Phenomenal Lavender is being used across the nation for its phenomenal performance.
Beautiful addition to your mixed border, potted on the patio or planted in groupings. This variety is my favorite because it stays in a mound growing formation and grows very quickly. The lavender pictured below was planted in January 2018 here in our yard in Oregon, in full sun, and has quadrupled in size in just one year! Lavender doesn’t do well in shade, it will get a little leggy. Once established lavender doesn’t need a lot of water and does well in most soils.
In fall when flowers have faded you can prune down the stems to leave the silvery green mound of foliage that will keep it’s color all winter.
